Vakaru, tucked away in a remote corner in South Ari Atoll, is 90 kilometres from Male’ International Airport. Your holiday really begins as the seaplane takes off from the airport lagoon. Have your cameras ready and enough film at hand during your transfer to the resort. The short 35-minute flight offers a breathtaking aerial view of the atolls, the islands and countless reefs glistening like gems in a sea of deep blue velvet.

Standard Rooms - Although you may feel like Robinson Crusoe on this tiny tropical paradise of ours, there is no lack of comforts when it comes to accommodation. Most of the 50 on the island are individual bungalows, all surrounded by the lush tropical vegetation in all its natural splendour. Spread out around the island offering complete privacy, all face the beach. Convenient family accommodation is provided by opening up the interconnecting doors between semi-detached bungalows, especially designed for the purpose. Cool tiled floor offers welcome respite after a relaxing day in the sun and the sea. Colourful tropical patterns on the drapery add a touch of colour to the interiors. Large glass doors facing the beach offer an excellent view of the bright colours of the lagoon and your own area of the beach. In keeping with the simplicity of the resort the rooms are spacious and airy, tastefully furnished and with nice little details that remind you that you are in the Maldives. All rooms are air-conditioned, with mini fridge, stereo CD player and hair dryer. A comfortable rocking chair completes the picture. Each room has a small verandah facing the beach where you may relax quietly in the comfortable chairs provided. If you would like to sit and relax still closer to the beach you may use your very own sun loungers placed right in front of your room on the beach. The attached bathroom, partly open air with a small garden, is equipped with bathtub and shower. An additional shower in the small garden offers a pleasant choice and allows stargazers to have a bath under the open sky.

Vakarufalhi only offers accommodation on fullboard. All meals are served in the Main Restaurant and snacks are available at the Vakaru Bar in the afternoons.

Located close to each other, both are designed to create an air of simple relaxation. High conical thatched roofs, layered fine white sand under your feet and a great view of the sea creates an excellent tropical atmosphere in both the Main Restaurant and the Vakaru Bar.

The Main Restaurant - The meals at the Main Restaurant are planned out to give you an excellent variety of delicious cuisine during your stay at Vakarufalhi. While breakfast and lunch are served buffet style, a more varied programme is on offer at dinner.

The weekly grill night offers good food blended in with the most romantic atmosphere you can imagine; tables laid out on the beach under the stars, candlelight and a magnificent spread of barbecues and grills.

The Maldivian night also held once a week gives you a unique chance to sample some of the finest Maldivian foods. A good opportunity to sample some excellent fish and for the adventurous, a chance to check out a variety of curries prepared in true local style. The waiters are attired in special Maldivian costume to add to the ambience.

On all other evenings dinner is a la carte - you can choose from a wide range of international dishes. A choice of salads, soups and desserts are served buffet style.

A unique, romantic candle-lit dinner in the privacy of the beach area in front of your room is included in your full board package. Just choose a special evening for this romantic event and inform the reception. Vakaru Bar - Fine white sand on the floor and comfortable rattan furniture enables you to relax in total comfort. Gaze out on to the bright blue lagoon as you cool down with a cold beer after a few hours in the sun. Sit under a starlit sky on the spacious wooden deck that extends from the bar on to the beach. Sip your favourite cocktail from the extensive cocktail menu or better still enjoy a ‘Vakaru Queen’ the barman’s very own secret. Stocked with the finest wines, champagnes and liquors, the bar opens in the morning and closes when the last guest leaves.
